It was a huge honor to be able to create the cover art for this release for Warner Bos./Rhino Records. I remember buying it the week it originally came out in 1983! The original Holy Diver art is considered a classic cover in heavy metal, there is no way to top it so I just tried to honor it and give it a new spin.

Killing The Dragon - 2019 Updated cover art I created for the upcoming remastered release of the classic Dio album that was also made into a picture disc for Record Store Day 2019. Done for BMG.

Warner Brothers/Rhino Records and Wendy Dio contacted me to design and paint the cover for this Dio box set that was to include the first six albums from the bands first ten years.  I knew I wanted to use the classic Dio demonic mascot and I thought it would be a good idea to incorporate the characters that populated the six iconic releases.  I grew up listening to these albums and they mean a lot to me so I wanted to do something that would pay homage to them.

Ronnie James Dio is one of my favorite singers and musicians of all time. When I was told by the record label that he would be calling me at 3pm to talk about designing his new cover, I was totally psyched. The phone rang at precisely 3:01 and we talked for over an hour. That was the beginning of many long phone calls and a great acquaintance that lasted until he passed away.

Besides being an amazing singer, he was a gentleman and all around nice guy that always treated me with much respect. Working with him and contributing to his catalog of music are some of the coolest moments of my career.  RIP Ronnie, I miss you bro.

After Ronnie James Dio's passing I didn't think that there would be much opportunity to create DIo artwork any more.  So being the die-hard Dio fan that I am, I was really glad to be asked to create the artwork for this "Best Of" release.  Wendy Dio knew that she wanted a cool looking demon or beast on the cover so it was just a matter of finding something that she liked.  I did a few new designs but ultimately she settled on a old demon sketch that I had done in the past.  I tightened it up and painted it and that became the cover art.  We affectionately named him - Balthus The Slayer!

This illustration was created to promote Metallica's song "Ronnie Rising" which was their contribution to the Dio tribute CD - This Is Your Life.  It was a mash up of some of Metallica's favorite Rainbow songs done in a way that is undeniably Metallica.

For this package design I thought it would be interesting to shoot Rob Halfords' costumes in macro to create surreal background imagery that is indicative of heavy metal.  It was a simple idea but I had never seen it done before.  After all, Rob is credited with introducing leather, studs and spikes to the heavy metal genre so why not celebrate that.  I acquired his Rock In Rio costumes and anything else we had in storage from that tour at Metal God Ent. and set it up as multiple tabletops in my studio for a photo shoot.  I was pleased with the result as some of the shots actually looked like giant landscapes of studs and spikes.

CD Art, Design and Layout for rock group Art Of Anarchy.  I've gotten to know these guys over the course of the last few years and they're a great bunch of people and musicians.  John Votta had asked me early on to explore a concept he had using a dove and a crow as symbolism for good and evil.  He had a vison of them fighting over the AOA mask that I created for them on the previous CD.

Branding, Design and Illustration.

In 2003 I was introduced to Rob Halford of Judas Priest.  He and his manger were looking for an artist to develop his moniker "Metal God" brand.  After looking at my portfolio and hearing my concepts, I was hired as Art Director of the newly formed Metal God Entertainment.  The company was to cater to heavy metal music and spearhead the Metal God brand as well as promote Rob Halford as an icon.  Behind the scenes I worked at creating artwork for various concepts and business endeavors as well as designing all art for the packaging of new and re-released Halford solo music.

Cover art and design for remixed and remastered version of the heavy metal classic - CRUCIBLE by Judas Priest singer Rob Halford.  The idea was to not deviate completely from the original cover art but to update it and make it more powerful.  Crucible by one definition is a container by which metal is melted.  We took the idea of the original iron cross and showed it floating and melting in a pool of lava.

Cover illustration and CD package design for the heavy metal band Death Dealer.

Death Dealer is a new band comprised of heavy metal alumni.  Early on I was given the music by their singer Sean Peck which inspired me to create something really aggressive.  Sean and I have collaborated on many covers together over the years and it always spawns some great results.  When we began coming up with ideas for this release we knew that we wanted to create a character that was as aggressive as the music.
