After Ronnie James Dio's passing I didn't think that there would be much opportunity to create DIo artwork any more.  So being the die-hard Dio fan that I am, I was really glad to be asked to create the artwork for this "Best Of" release.  Wendy Dio knew that she wanted a cool looking demon or beast on the cover so it was just a matter of finding something that she liked.  I did a few new designs but ultimately she settled on a old demon sketch that I had done in the past.  I tightened it up and painted it and that became the cover art.  We affectionately named him - Balthus The Slayer!
